It's time to pare the zine collection down some more, so other people can enjoy these. This is an extensive list, but it still seemed easier to stick it all in one post than to split it out and spam the hell out of people.
Prices do not include postage; add $3 for the first zine and $1 per additional zine for shipping within the US. I'll ship anywhere, but will need to figure postage for anywhere else. Zines are in good (minor wear) to excellent (like new) condition, unless otherwise indicated. All of these are coming from a non-smoking home with a cat.
I'll accept Paypal (credit cards okay) or a money order. Please don't send any money until you've confirmed your order with me, to make sure the zines you want are still available.
Comment here or send email directly to nocturnish at gmail dot com if you want any of these. If you want more info about something I'll do my best, but it's been a long time since I've read some of these, so I may not remember plot details, etc.

We couldn't go to Vividcon this year, which was very sad. But we were poking desultorily at vids anyway in hopes of getting something done, when cesperanza and astolat roared into town, said, "We've got music! Let's vid!", and astolat pulled merryish into one room to vid real people, and cesperanza pulled us into another room to vid... everything else. Seriously, those women are a force of nature. ♥
And this was the result!

There's a streaming version up on our imeem (http://flummery.imeem.com), but it's a little stuttery in spots and we're not sure why. Hopefully we'll get it figured out and fixed soon.
Imeem went boom, so we put a streaming version up on our site, which you can watch there or here:
ETA April 17, 2012: Our streaming vids are temporarily offline while we look into a technical issue. Sorry! The download still works, and we'll get the streaming version back up as soon as we can.

I meant to have all of this done weeks ago, but hey, better late than never.
Mostly this con report is a review of the vids that made it onto the VVC 2007 DVD set (four discs, omg), but I also wanted to touch on a few things from the con as well -- thus, "disc zero".
I was hoping to talk more about general panels and some of the specific vidshows, but it's three months after Vividcon already, and I wanted to at least get this posted while it's still 2007. (ahem.) But there are three things in particular I really wanted to get out there: Genealogy of Vidding, Vividsection, and the Town Hall on Vidding and Visibility.
First, though: the master list of links to playlists and panel notes from various attendees is here: http://community.livejournal.com/vidding/1168820.html
Okay, onward.

(We'll probably be remastering this vid sometime this fall/winter, actually -- the DVDs came out incredibly fast, and we'd love to have a clean-source version. But this is the version that aired at Vividcon, and that's on the VVC discs.)
In other news...
We learned many things at this year’s Vividcon! Among the more mortifying -- we clearly have no idea what the hell we’re doing when it comes to aspect ratio. absolutedestiny’s enlightening Vid Tech Panel of Doom helped resolve a few things for us -- and break the bad news that our shiny, newly remastered version of Haunted was actually remastered with the wrong aspect ratio. As of this post, though, we’ve replaced all the remastered versions with newly remastered remasters! ... Yeah. *facepalm*

On August 7, 2007, everything changed.
To commemorate the occasion, we've remastered our Odyssey 5 vid, Haunted, with DVD source. We've also put up some notes about it, for anyone who's interested, linked on our main vids page.
Downloads:
Haunted 2007, large version 45.5 MB
Haunted 2007, small version, 12.2 MB
Both are XVID. Please right mouse click and choose "save" rather than streaming.
If you want to point people to the downloads, please link to http://trickster.org/vids, not directly to the vids themselves.
Streaming:

Thing 2 here, putting out a call (okay plea) for suggestions for anime and cartoon vids that knocked your socks off!
I am VJing Saturday Morning Cartoons again at Vividcon this year, and could dearly use any suggestions of favorites that you would like to send my way. Or, if you would like to premiere a new vid during this show, that would be fab!
Please send your thousands of fantastic suggestions to me directly (flummery at el jay dot com) or reply to this post, or try out the snazzy Vividcon Suggestion Form.

Ahem. So, it's been a while since we've posted anything here, which would mostly be because it's been a while since we've managed to finish a vid.
We did plenty of vidding, mind. But the vids we were working on kept going completely pear-shaped, one after the other, and then we needed a break from the frustration.
So there's still no shiny new vid. But we do have a shiny new place to see the vids we've already done:
http://flummery.imeem.com
Imeem is like Youtube in that the videos are streaming, but the quality is higher, so we figured we'd give it a shot. :)
The big column on the right functions as a blog of sort, so our vids are mixed in with playlists we're creating, etc. If you want just a list of links to the vids, scroll down a little and look on the left for the Videos section -- all of the vids are named with an abbreviation of the fandom and the song title (e.g., o5_Haunted).
Downloadable copies, as always, are available at our regular vidpage.

Below are some thoughts on what we were trying to do with the Metavid (link to actual vid here in case you want to watch before reading. Or, link to the lyrics). It's mainly me (Thing 2) writing below, with occasional input from Thing 1.
But first... we owe an awful lot of people thanks for this one, it just could not have been made without all the help, so thanks to everyone who let us use vids, clips, their thoughts, shouted "LLAMA!" at us, and all the rest.

I've reluctantly decided it's time to pare my zine collection down to just the handful I reread regularly, so someone else can enjoy the rest. This is an extensive list, but it still seemed easier to stick it all in one post than to split it out and spam the hell out of people.

It is 3:21 pm on July the 10th. The deadline for Vividcon premieres is tomorrow. We have reached the point in the vidding where the conversation goes like this:
Thing 1: Think we could use that footage there? Thing 2: No, that's a commercial. Thing 1: But it's a lovely ruined city. Thing 2: It's a commercial for 10.5. Thing 1: Fine, be like that.
It's like that, only worse.

So, for many, many years now... okay, not that many, seeing as torrents and downloading episodes from online is just not that old a technology, but for a while now, I have watched friends downloading episodes of shows to watch on computer, and have not seen the appeal. Specifically, I don't like watching shows on my computer. A big part of enjoying a show for me is being able to sit on the sofa, watch it on a decent sized screen, and fight for space with my cat, sometimes with my laptop on one knee so I can multi-task. Or, you know, have guests over to watch with me!
Downloading an episode to watch required going to the office, where the desktop (with the better monitor, and extra diskspace) lives, sitting in the not-so-comfy office chair, and watching it on a decent, but smaller sized screen, only a foot or so away. I mean, doable, but not actually fun for me, too much like work. It put me off to an enormous degree, actually.
If only I could watch these downloaded files on tv, I said to myself, now THAT would be something. But no. While I know it's possible to convert a file to something watchable on tv, I've failed to manage it myself, and the process requires a lot of time and effort for each episode you'd like to convert. Still, I decided to give it another shot, in the hopes of catching a few episodes I've missed this year. So I asked astolat for a few tips. astolat answered, "Hmmm, probably TMPGenc will do it, but you know, there's this new player on the market I've been looking at...."
She described the player. I expressed disbelief. I repeatedly asked her the same questions, over and over, to see if I could trick her into different answers, but NO! I discovered that indeed, she was saying there existed a dvd player on the market that can playback divx/xvid files without any conversion at all. Just burn them down to dvd or cd, pop them in, and PLAY. And that said player is only $45 before shipping. (There are, it turns out, other players out there as well, like the Phillips... but this is certainly the cheapest I've seen listed).
I stared at the player online a while, then a while longer, and then twitched a bit, and then twitched more, and then a seizure at minute 21 or so caused me to hit the buy button.
( The player is the Norcent DP-220, and it arrived today. Cut for the length of this review )
