VVC premiere: Tamacun (Dresden Files) (... and a remastered remaster)

A little late, because of tech issues:

Title: Tamacun
Artist: Rodrigo y Gabriela
Fandom: Dresden Files
Summary: Dresden. Harry Dresden.

Downloadable (right-click and save):

Large version (xvid, 44.1 MB, 640 x 384)

Small version (xvid, 16.5 MB, 320 x 192)

Streaming:

Available on imeem on our website or right here!

Feedback of any sort, from comment to crit, is always very welcome!

(We'll probably be remastering this vid sometime this fall/winter, actually -- the DVDs came out incredibly fast, and we'd love to have a clean-source version. But this is the version that aired at Vividcon, and that's on the VVC discs.)

In other news...

We learned many things at this year’s Vividcon! Among the more mortifying -- we clearly have no idea what the hell we’re doing when it comes to aspect ratio. [info]absolutedestiny’s enlightening Vid Tech Panel of Doom helped resolve a few things for us -- and break the bad news that our shiny, newly remastered version of Haunted was actually remastered with the wrong aspect ratio. As of this post, though, we’ve replaced all the remastered versions with newly remastered remasters! ... Yeah. *facepalm*

*beam* Thanks!!

The music is incredible; there's nothing in the audio except two people playing acoustic guitars. Blew my mind when I first heard it, and it never gets old. You really need to buy one of their CDs, you will love the whole thing.

I love this vid. The way you wove the different characters when there were different things going on was incredible. The whole thing moves and moves, but never gets lost. I only watched 3 episodes of the show, but I felt the vid told me enough that I wasn't struggling to figure out what was going on. At the same time, I felt sure that had I known the show better, I'd be rewarded by many "oooo, cool" and "ah ha!" moments. And also? It's incredibly pretty! The music, the visuals -- a feast for the senses. I'm looking forward to the remastered version.

*beam* Thanks so much! We were a little worried about the vid making any kind of sense, what with never having tried an instrumental before, but when you get right down to it, the core of the vid is "Yay, Harry!" said in different ways, so it seemed worth the risk. *g* Pretty was definitely a huge part of what we were going for! We both fell for the music as soon as we heard it, and the show itself could be so damn shiny when it wanted to be. Also, there is Bob. Bob makes everything better.

Oh, wow, so cool! The music's great, and the vid reminds me how much I adore Harry, and how even much more I adore Bob. (And there's Murphy, and Morgan, and...) *sigh* Damn Sci-Fi for cancelling it! But thank you very much for the vid. :)

Lor! *beam* Didn't know you were a Dresden fan. And yay, so glad it worked for you! There can never be enough Bob-love (and Harry-love, but... Bob!) in the world.

This is amazing! I love the choice of music (Rodrigo y Gabriela is one of my favorite CDs this year) and how it intensifies the excitement and fun of the show while reminding me how much I love Harry Dresden and his freaky little world.

Thanks! We were looking for a vidsong that would say "Yay, Harry!" and then we stumbled over Rodrigo y Gabriela, who are just *incredible*. We couldn't resist matching them up, and I'm so glad it worked out. Intensifying everything was exactly what we were going for. Yay!

Wow....

I don't know what else to say. Simply wow!

I have never seen The Dresden Files, and I cannot get the show where I live, but your little video, and the brilliant choice in music has simply blown me away! Now I want to run out and buy Jim Butcher's series of books and at least be able to read about Harry Dresden.

I came here via ithidrials link because she said it was simply awesome. She was so very very right!

Lucky you folks who are that get to watch this show, I'd watch it simply for Terrance Mann, he of Rum Tum Tugger fame. But Harry isn't bad on the eyes either!

Thank you so much for this,

Teej

*beams* Thank you so much! There's no higher praise than hearing we made someone want to see the show. (Or read the books!) :))

Terrance Mann plays Bob, who is utterly fabulous in every way. And he and Harry together have a wonderfully warm, snarky relationship that I just adore.

(I don't usually pimp DVDs at people, but if you're that big a Terrance Mann fan, you might want to pick up the DVDs; they came out the first week of August, and are only $24.99 on amazon.)

I really, really adore this. It must be very difficult to have a story line with just an instrumental piece, but for me you really captured the essence of the show (takes a moment to sob quietly in a corner). I love that you gave all the major characters sequences. Beautiful rhythm and style throughout!

Oh, oh, I downloaded this a few days ago and got to watch it finally and I think I am going to make all my Dresden-watching friends watch this so we can get together and cry about the show being canceled but have something awesome with which to console ourselves.
