The Pirate Song

What did you say truth
'cause if you know truth
then I will stay with you
where you go.

I have searched,
I've traveled about
on these waters alone,
and I would love to make this place me home.

I remember dancing
a long time ago.
And I felt the feelings
a young sailor knows.
And a wish that vanished,
now what do you know?

Do you know
how tired I get?
The visions I've seen,
the monsters that hide 'neath my ship underneath?

There were pretty ladies
a long time ago,
and the battles bloody
with love in the blow.
Now if truth and love live,
I feel I should know.

What you see is what life's left to me,
my love.
And if something you say sets me free,
my love.
Then I'll fill you with gold,
and you won't look so old to me.

Why so shy?
That's fear in your eye.
I know it so well.
If I ever do tell
of the strange things I've seen.

Don't be scared:
I once would have cared,
but now I'm so wise.
If you knew half the winds
I'd stared down with these eyes.

The days were shorter
a long time ago.
And I had a daughter
a long time ago.
Now I know these waters,
so what do you know?

What you see is what life's left to me,
my love.
And if something you say sets me free,
my love.
Then I'll fill you with gold,
and you won't look so old...

(bridge)

Ooo, I remember dancing,
a long time ago.
And I felt the feelings
a young sailor knows.
Now if truth and love live,
I feel I should know.

What you see is what life's left to me,
my love.
And if something you say sets me free,
my love.
Then I'll fill you with gold,
and you won't look so old --

Have you lived through a storm on the sea,
my love.
Can't you tell what the tide's done to me,
my love.
Well I swear I could change,
if you simply explained it
to me.

This is really quite a stunning video. Just. Amazing. You guys did a fantastic job of choosing the right clips and editing and just... everything. Wow.
Thank you so much! (also, icon love!) There needs to be more Crusoe love in the world. :)
Oh, that was great! Excellent vid.
Thank you! Are you watching it at all? It was really a ton of fun, and I thought of you and mary when I was watching it, as it had a certain... vibe.

I'm so glad to see a new Crusoe vid. And it was so well done! :-)
Thank you! *beams*
Well, I'm pimped. :D I really enjoyed that and will have to go look up the source--thank you, ladies!
You know what we have over here, little girl? That's right! Crusoe dvds! You come over, watch just one. There's snacks here, and kittens, and we'll let you leave any time. Really. Any time you want.
Beautiful work, as always. I love your cutting rhythms here, just embodying that guitar, and the transitions between past and present are smooth as butter.

The vid has a wonderful inexorable energy to it, driving forward, but it feels joyful rather than frenetic. A pleasure to watch.
*beams at you* Yay, I'm so glad you liked it! \o/
You don't know how happy I was when we got the vidshow playlist and I saw that there was a Crusoe vid. And the fact that it was from you two--bliss! I loved this so much. You really showcased the beauty of the show and the sweet, sweet slash. Thank you!!!
\o/ Thank you!! The world needs more Crusoe, dammit. *g* And really, this is the sweetest song we have ever vidded, but... it just fits them so well. *draws hearts around them*
This is absolutely gorgeous! I love it :D
Thank you so much!
WHEE, that is so awesome! i really love it.
& for the first time i'm tempted to watch this series... you made it look so shiny :D
Thank you so much, and thank you for the rec! You should definitely give it a try (not that I'm biased, or anything *g*) - it's very shiny and fun. And they are so very pretty. *kof* [/shallow]
Oh, this is LOVELY! I admit that I kind of bounced off Crusoe (for reasons that had at least as much to do with me as with the show), but this vid is pretty much a distillation of everything that I did like about it. I love the energy in the cutting at the beginning; I love what terrific use you've made of the gorgeous scenery and interesting visuals. And I especially like the way you've acknowledged Crusoe's wife and family and history -- everything the young sailor knew -- while making beautifully clear that his real life is on the island, and his real love, the love of two people who know each other and have each other's backs and can be silly together, is Friday. ♥

Favorite little moment: 1:35, Crusoe's smirk as he rattles the cup in time with the quick guitar strum. Hee!
I really love this vid. The visuals and the tone of the music match very well.
I took a trip down memory lane today and looked you up for the IMan vid with Kryptonite. This new one you've created is nothing short of marvelous. Hope you don't mind that I linked to it from my journal. Thank you very much for sharing your talents. Truly, visually stunning.
I just found this and I loved it! Crusoe, such a ridiculous show but it also had depth which you capture here so well.
